"其实他写这首诗时，是在非常困难的环境中，但因为对主的伟大信心和深入认识，即使周围困难，痛苦压迫，主都大放光明异彩。
使他在涉过深水，经过火焰，因为对主的信心和靠主恩典，这些艰难环境都使他灵命往上攀升，使他能得着从未得到的生命，而这终必成为他极大的益处。
带着这样的信心因此他写下：“每一步越走越光明，像攀登黄金阶梯”再接着“每重担越挑越轻省，每朵云披上银衣。”
重担怎么会越挑越轻省呢？因他看见满天都是乌云笼罩，但他看见在满天黑云的边露出一线银色就知阳光从未改变，就在这黑云上面“Every cloud is silver lined”，到这里他忽然转变了。
“在那里阳光常普照，在那里没有眼泪。”“在那里”在什么地方呢？他的信心已穿过重重黑云，就是在黑云之上阳光普照的地方。
而结束得那么美丽而满有力量：
在美丽彩虹的尽头，众山岭与天相连

“彩虹”是神的信实，“山岭”是大得我无法移动的难处。

Last night at the fellowship and prayer, this song moved my heart deeply. A couple of days ago, I had a dream where a brilliant rainbow started out from faraway, arched across the sky and reached towards me with magnigicent colors. I just stood in awe. It ended at my feet and I could feel it when I reached my hand into its light. It was a wonderful dream, and like many, was forgotten after the initial excitement. Then, yesterday, I loved the song so much, and during prayer, I remembered my dream. I was greatly touched by the wonders of God and the destiny He leads us to. It is a place so high and beautiful like above the highest mountains of this world, it is a place where the rainbow, the symbol of God's faithfulness, starts out. It is a place of extreme peace and sweetness in spirit, beyond words' description. Praise God.
