Some Thoughts after Re-reading the story of Elijah (1 King 17-19)
What touched me the most is not the miracles he performed, but how God showed HIS presence to him.
Having done the great miracles in Mount Carmel, he was at the peak time as a prophet. However, the evil queen Jezebel sent out people to kill Elijah. He was afraid and had to run for his life. He was very discouraged and wanted to die. Then the LORD sent angels to give him food and comfort him. Later in a cave, God appeared to him.
Below are quoted from the Scripture:
##########################################
11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

The LORD was not in the wind, nor the earthquake, nor the fire. The LORD uttered a gentle whisper! Our beloved LORD, give me a pure hear heart and attentative ears so that I am able to hear your gentle whispers.
